Do you like the color red?

Think hard. Harder.

Do you like a color that is known nationally now as being gang-affiliated? Do you like a color that when enough pain is put onto someone that they bleed it? How about when you are late for school, work, or any other event, and a redlight commands you to roll to a stop? And also holds you there for as long as it pleases? Does this sound like a nice color to you?

There's rumor that red vehicles get pulled over more than any other. Is it because it is almost considered in the wrong since the color obviously from the above renders us from many things from clothing to driving? Does that make you want your vehicle to be red? Even if that is by chance your favorite color?

Do you still like the color red? How about if you win second place and you recieve that red ribbon? Almost as if you aren't good enough so here's a red material. How about when you are wearing a white shirt and a drop of ketchup gets on you? Does that red make you look better? Say you are a comedian, I doubt you want to walk off that stage with red clumps all over you from the tomatoes. Id say red isnt very good.

Still not convinced? A cult a few years back had a mass suicide meeting. The color of the punch was red. The KKK's colors were white, and red. Nazis wore red, the USSR's flag was red, and even during the American Revolution, the "redcoats" were against us. How is red a good color?

And for my finale on this, what about a color that is usually used on term papers? Would you feel better or worse about that huge F if it was in, say, purple? If purple doesn't work for you, pick one. It doesn't matter what it is, if your grade is in red, it is most likely going to dig a little deeper into your emotions than your chosen color. Although the color changes, the grade is still the same in the books.

The reason I ask all of this is because my English Comp. teacher made the comment that she isn't going to use the "ugly red" but instead the "ugly green, purple, or even orange." It never really hit me how much the color affects the meaning of what is set before your eyes.

And thanks to her (and the above), I do not like the color red.

Top 10 Things That Summer Taught Me:

01. Friends come and go. Not by choice but it's life. Hold on to the ones that you can and keep meeting new ones.
02. Stick to your own business. If you dont, you only get in trouble. Trouble brings drama and stress.
03. Know when to quit. Whether it's drinking alcohol or going after a girl, there's a limit when health comes into play.
04. Ride with others if possible. It's more enjoyable when you are cruising on someone else's gas while your bank account doesn't take the blow.
05. Don't expect to be on time. The more people you have, the later you will be to whatever event you are going to.
06. Money doesn't grow on trees. Although that would be the greatest thing ever since the huggie, it just isn't possible. And since it doesn't, having insufficent funds is usual.
07. Lying digs holes deeper than graves. It's better to just bite the bullet and take the bitching/beating now instead of later.
08. Actions speak louder than words. You can say anything in world. No matter how meaningful, intelligent, or awe-inspiring, if there are no actions to follow them, they mean nothing.
09. McDonald's is great at advertising. They lost the war on supersizing but having their greasy burgers available all night long is pure genius.
10. Enjoy life as it comes. Plans usually fail and cause disappointment. Just take it a step at a time, don't rush things, and remember that life is only for so long.

¤ The Essentials

Everyone has had that feeling, that one where you have clothes on but you feel naked. You feel naked because you are missing something, usually a wallet, necklace, ring, or maybe even a belt. These are things that I feel strange without [pictured below]. They give me that feeling of nakedness if I dont have them. Consider them my second layer of "clothing" if you would like. These things bring me the essentials: love, happiness, mobility, social life, shade, and all the other things that the green paper and numbered plastic can buy. There are many other things that I enjoy having but these are the ones that I wouldnt want to give up easily.

+ Brothers From Different Mothers

It's hard to picture myself,
Saying goodbye to those few.
Summer's almost over,
And it's time to find something new.
Everyone is going their own direction,
Taking different routes from point A.
I have no doubt we will stay in touch,
And round up the crew in an upcoming day.
We are all having to grow up.
Some enjoying it, some not.
Getting kicked out everywhere,
Except Kyle's mom's shop's parking lot.
We won't ever forgot one another,
And all the crazy times we've had.
My only advice is to keep your head high.
There's no need to become sad.
Life has a way of keeping friends together,
Thats no doubt to your's here.
Because I know at some point in the future,
We will all just relax and crack open a few beer.

*to the guys i owe a great summer too.
good luck in college. forever brothers
.
